VIEW ALLCharlotte advises clients in relation to intellectual property (IP), data protection, and commercial law across a variety of sectors including technology, finance, retail, media and the creative industries.
She has a particular focus on brand protection and enforcement, assisting clients with the filing, registration and protection of IP rights, the monitoring and enforcement of those rights, as well as brand expansion. She has experience in handling trade mark disputes at the UKIPO and EUIPO, as well as domain name complaints and company name complaints at Nominet and the Company Names Tribunal.
Charlotte has experience in carrying out IP due diligence for corporate transactions as well as conducting intellectual property audits.
In addition, she assists with cross-sector advice on commercial contracts, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, and IP licences and assignments. Charlotte regularly assists clients with drafting terms and conditions for competitions and prize draws, as well as general sale and consignment terms. She also advises on compliance with the Advertising Standards Authority Codes and other related consumer regulations.
She advises on data protection and privacy related issues, in particular, compliance with the GDPR and Data Protection Act, and she works with the Media Disputes team on contentious matters.
Charlotte is co-chair of the Social Committee, a pro bono volunteer with UAL (conducting lectures for product design students on IP rights in 2019 and 2020) and a LawWorks volunteer.
During her training contract, she completed seats in IP & Commercial, Commercial Dispute Resolution, Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Client and has a breadth of knowledge and experience in each of those areas.
Prior to becoming a solicitor, Charlotte was an IP paralegal specialising in brands. She also worked in various roles in the art world whilst undertaking an MA in Art Business at Sotheby's Institute of Art.
